Shattered Glass Collective

An immersive exhibition and performance showcasing just how suffocating your mental health can be. Audience watches as Mira's life unfolds.

Original paintings, score, screenplay, graphic designers, actors and many more collaborated as New Artists Collective to produce this 'Shattered Glass' exhibition. I was delighted to be apart of this, as I specialised in painting, curation and therapeutic attributes art can have. It wasn't just an exhibition, it was a performance piece.

The story focused on Mira, a young student artist, who's project deadline was drawing closer. Her evergrowing and overwhelming anxiety takes control causing her to spiral: turning down her friends, missing deadlines and closing herself off from the world.

When her mental health is in torment, the music takes an anxious turn along with flashes of UV light. Her unfinished paintings shows flashes of creepy menacing faces, staring at her and the audience.

This exhibition was so powerful and emotive. The mixture of music and lighting felt like you were having a panic attack itself so watching an amazing actress like Fearne Deacon undergo this performance was resonating.

The message behind this project was to seek help and to know that you aren't alone. I know that from all of the wonderful creatives I collaborated during this project, everyone of us had gone through something similar. You aren't alone.

From a producing perspective; leaving these paintings purposefully unfinished was challenging. Of course, it was something I had never done before. However, now looking back at my paintings, I love how your mind almost finishes the gap. There's a play on it being beautiful when it's uncomplete and I just want to explore that a bit more.
