About

MY PRACTICE

Hi, I’m Kase.
Inspired by the traditional renaissance colours and themes, I produce abstract-realistic paintings that portray the beauty in the mundane and the tranquillity that comes with immersing yourself into a painting. But this doesn't end when the sun goes down. Each painting and print I create contains subtle Glow-in-the-dark motifs, allowing you to enjoy your art in dimer settings as well as in bright daylight.
I frequently get asked as to why I use Glow in the Dark paint and for me, the answer is easy. I want to experience and view art in darker settings. Ever since I was a teenager, my eyes have been highly sensitive to light, to the point where they can become red and swollen for a few days. It’s nothing a trip to the hospital can’t fix but, because of this, I sometimes have to avoid going to places that are often full of light. (Don’t get me started on places with bold white light, those places are a killer for me). So, I want to produce art that is great to look at in the daylight but also, fun and creative to look at, at night.
THE CAFFEINATED HIPPO
The Caffeinated Hippo was born at the end of 2023. After a few years in the 'everyday office' setting, I knew it wasn't the right fit. So, I used all of the knowledge I had gained to start this adventure.
Art can hugely benefit your mental health and well-being, and you don't need to go to art school to reap the benefits of it. Trust me, I went to art school for six years! I've learned that people can engage with art in one or two ways: It inspires them to want to create, or it leaves them reflecting on what the artist intended. Either way, art resonates. It is a universal language anyone can understand and decipher. It is also incredibly fun and will open up new innovative ways of thinking and processing that you can take with you in your daily life.
On this website, you can find my originals and prints, including those I've made when I'm feeling particularly down and struggling to connect with the world, my 'dopamine collection'. The style tends to be completely different, which proves that art, when done mindfully, is very therapeutic and healing. These pieces tend to be softer in tones and details. I hope that through this website and even my socials, I can help inspire you to create or to make you feel better when you have had a rough day, like my art does for me.

IN HONOUR OF MY BAA
I want to honour my Baa (grandma) for being my main source of inspiration and fuel for The Caffeinated Hippo. She passed away in 2023 from Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
She was such a kind and beautiful soul that she was laughing and smiling till the end. At her final stage, she seemed to have forgotten our names but she always had this love for us that we could all sense.
I used to create a lot of art at her house, painting in the kitchen, doodling in front of the telly and she kept them all. She used to place them in her bedroom, waking up to our creations.
Creating art was also very beneficial for her. She used to go to a Day centre for the elderly in her community where she would socialise and also do activities such as colouring. In which, was very helpful for her and the degenerating disease that she had.
